Schwab Named Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Schwab won Pepperdine's Waves Invite on Aug. 31

IRVINE, Calif.—Long Beach State's Marikay Schwab was named Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Sept. 3.
 
Schwab won the Pepperdine Waves Invite Friday as the 2024 cross country season began for Long Beach State at Alumni Park. Schwab ran a time of 13:04.0 on the 4k course to defeat second-place Nicole Bridges of Cal Poly by a little over two seconds. Schwab's win was the first individual victory by an LBSU women's runner since Ryley Fick won the 2022 UC Riverside Invitational.
 
The Beach resumes action on Sept. 21 at the UC Riverside Invitational.
