Cross Country Wraps Second Competition Of The Season

Senior Cameron Rhone led the way with a Top 50 finish for the men’s team.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State Cross Country wrapped up their second meet of the season, competing in the UC Riverside Invitational at the UCR Ag/Ops course, where this year's Big West Championship will be held.
Final Results
Senior Cameron Rhone had the top finish overall among the Beach runners, taking 45th place in the men's 8K with a time of 24:31.5, just off of his career best at the distance. Junior Miles Jones was next with a time of 25:11.5 before a trio of Juan Flores, freshman Jonah Vasquez and Lance Denhalter rounded out LBSU's Top 5. As a team, Long Beach State placed 21st.
In the women's 6K, Long Beach State also took 21st. Sophomore Darcy Ray set a PR with a time of 21:19, taking 59th overall, while senior Brooke Willoughby also recorded her career-best time of 21:26.9 to take 81st place. Kendall Bawden was just outside of the Top 100 with a time of 21:39.2, while Sharice Laygo, Elisa Rodriguez and Sarabella Stakely rounded out the Beach competitors.
Long Beach State will next compete at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara on October 17.
