LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ella Lomigora and Abby Karich turned in career-highs on Friday night as they helped lead Long Beach State to a 3-0 [25-20, 25-14, 25-11] sweep of Washington State at the Walter Pyramid.

With the win, the Beach move to 5-4 on the year, while the Cougars dropped to 5-4 overall. The victory also marked the first sweep of Washington State all season. It was also LBSU's first victory over WSU in Long Beach, Calif., in program history.

Sophomore middle blocker Ella Lomigora led the Beach with a career-high 12 kills on 14 perfect swings as she hit an incredible .857. If that weren't enough, she also added three blocks at the net.

The Beach opened the match strong hitting .357 to the Cougars' .222 clip. Long Beach State jumped on the board first and never trailed. The hosts used a 5-1 run to take a 9-4 lead as Washington State utilized a timeout. The Cougars came out of the break and scored four-straight points, cutting the Beach's lead to two (11-9). However, LBSU continued to surge ahead and took the opening set, 25-20.

Long Beach State carried that momentum into the second set as the Beach hit a hot .407, while the LBSU defense held Washington State to a .088 attack percentage. The Cougars managed to tie the game twice early on, but the Beach strung together several short 3-0 runs to open up a 10-point advantage (21-11) which was highlighted by an ace from Glenn. The Beach held a comfortable lead and cruised to a 25-14 victory.

The third set saw the Beach continue on their offensive tear as LBSU hit a whopping .700 in the frame. Long Beach State started the game with four-straight points and never trailed.
