The Beach were led by Natalie Glenn in the straight set victory

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State earned a 3-0 [25-21, 25-17, 25-22] sweep over Omaha on Wednesday night at the Walter Pyramid on the way to winning their third-straight contest.

The Beach (3-2) got several solid performances as they handed the Mavericks (0-6) their six-straight loss of the year.

Senior outside hitter Natalie Glenn was firing on all cylinders for Long Beach State as she led the team with eight kills on a .389 attack percentage. She also led the squad with 11 digs and three aces, while adding two blocks, and two assists.

Setter Zayna Meyer piloted the Beach to a .230 hitting percentage as she spread around 21 assists on the night. Meyer also got in on the offensive attack as well, knocking down six kills on 13 errorless attempts to hit .462.

Abby Karich, a senior outside hitter, also had a strong performance as she finished the match with six kills, eight digs, and four blocks.

Tying Karich for the team lead in blocks, senior middle blocker Kameron Bacon put up four blocks to go along with as many kills.

The Beach got things going in the first set with a 4-0 run highlighted by an ace from Karich to give LBSU a 6-4 lead. After battling each other through five lead changes early one, Long Beach led 15-12 at the media timeout and never looked back. The Beach led the remainder of the game, but Omaha made things interesting. The Mavericks managed to cut LBSU's lead down to two (23-21), before the Beach took the set, 25-21.

Omaha opened the second set with two quick points, but Glenn led the Beach on a 4-0 run capped by back-to-back aces to give LBSU a 5-4 edge. The two teams traded points until they found themselves deadlocked at 13-all. Glenn provided the spark the Beach needed as she knocked down a kill for the sideout, then led the team on a 7-0 run from the service line that put Long Beach ahead 20-13. LBSU remained in control the rest of the set as the Beach cruised to a 25-17 win.

Long Beach State kicked off the third set on a 4-0 run and never trailed. The Beach extended its lead to nine (12-3) after going on a 6-0 run. Omaha put together a trio of 3-0 runs, the last of which cut Long Beach's lead down to two (24-22). However, Jaylen Jordan slammed down her fifth kill of the match to put the game away.

Shayla McCormick led the Mavericks with nine kills on a .308 clip. She also led the squad with 14 digs. Kali Jurgensmeier added eight kills, while Ivy Leuck collected 18 assists in the match. At the net, Emily Huss put up three blocks.

Long Beach State has a quick turnaround as the Beach will head to Lincoln, Neb., to take part in the Nebraska Classic. LBSU will face Wichita State on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m., before closing the tournament against No. 14 Arizona State on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m.
