Long Beach State Drops Season Opener To No. 11 UCLA

Aurora Schuck makes nine saves for the Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif.—No. 11 UCLA defeated Long Beach State 3-0 in the women's soccer opener for both clubs Thursday night at George Allen Field.
The Bruins scored two goals off rebounds early in the first half. Emma Egizii put back a Bridgette Marin-Valencia shot at the 12:23 mark. A little under two minutes later, Bella Winn's attempt was saved by Beach goalie Aurora Schuck. Marin-Valencia was there for the carom in front to make it 2-0 in favor of the Bruins.
Egizii capped off the scoring in the 39th minute when she capped off a drive with her second goal of the match. Long Beach State threatened in the second half when Jordan Candelaria's attempt was straight on the UCLA goal before Ryan Campbell turned away the shot for the Bruins.
Schuck, who sat out 2023 after transferring to LBSU from Washington State, made nine saves. Campbell made two saves for the Bruins.
