Beach Volleyball Earns Bid to NCAA Tournament, Will Face No. 7 Cal

Long Beach State returns to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — With an impressive 28-9 record, Long Beach State has punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship in Gulf Shores for the second straight season, making the team's sixth postseason appearance. They will face No. 7 seeded California in the first round on Friday, May 3rd.
The Beach is going into the tournament with the second most wins they've had in a season since 2018. Eleven of these wins have come against ranked opponents, the biggest of them being the win in the Big West Conference semi-final against No. 5 Cal Poly. This season saw multiple players hit 50 career wins, including Malia Gementera, Taylor Hagenah and Natalie Glenn who are all only in their second year. These players were part of the team that faced California last year in the tough 3-2 loss.
Long Beach State will start the tournament at 3 p.m. ET against the Golden Bears on ESPNU. All matches of the tournament will be aired live on the ESPN networks, and additional championship information can be found at ncaa.com/beachvolleyball.
