Beach Volleyball Set To Play In Second Annual Best In The West Tournament

Long Beach will travel down to Laguna Beach to compete this weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — LBSU Beach Volleyball will be at Main Beach in Laguna Beach on Saturday, April 6 to take on the Cal Poly Mustangs at 12:30 p.m., and the St. Katherine Firebirds at 3 p.m.
Long Beach is currently 18-4 as they enter the last month of the regular season. The team had a 14-match win streak, which included an undefeated run at home. Multiple pairs were also on a hot streak as the team went into The Big West Challenge. The Beach closed out the month of March competing against all conference opponents at Sacramento State and UC Davis. The team won four of their six matches over the weekend.
The duo of Savannah Standage and Julia Westby had a perfect weekend as they were the only pair to beat Cal Poly during the team's 4-1 loss. The sophomore duo of Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah also had a great weekend playing in the top flight for the Beach. Their game against Sacramento State saw them reach 50 wins as a pair, the third highest in Long Beach history.
