Women’s Golf Continues Tournament Play At Silicon Valley Showcase

The Beach will play in the tournament hosted by Santa Clara for the second straight season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will continue tournament play by taking part in the Silicon Valley Showcase on March 11-12, hosted by Santa Clara at Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif.
Coming off of a Top 10 finish at the GCU Invitational, freshman Andee Avery will again lead the lineup for the Beach starting on Monday. Senior Angelina Kim will play second in the lineup after a strong final round in Phoenix, where she shot a 69 to finish the tournament at even par.
Jasmine Leovao was the team's top finisher at the Silicon Valley Showcase a year ago, placing in the Top 10, and will play third after also finishing even par in a tie for 22nd along with Kim last week at the GCU Invitational.
Her sister, Janae will play fourth for Long Beach State and junior Kristina Ponomareva will round out the lineup for the Beach. Freshman Erin Lee will compete as an individual.
No. 3 UCLA will be the favorites in the field that also includes two other Top 25 programs in No. 24 Pepperdine and No. 25 San Jose State. Two other Big West schools will be competing in UC Davis and UC Irvine, while Wyoming, Washington State, USF and the hosts Santa Clara fill out a very competitive 10-team field.
