
Long Beach State Finishes In Top 3 At Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate

Charlie Forster and Steen Zeman finished in the Top 10
TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 50 Long Beach State finished in third place of the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate with a tournament score of 8-over par. Charlie Forster and Steen Zeman led the Beach with a strong round and finished tied for seventh and 1-under par.
Long Beach State had a steady performance and finished in third place. Host No. 11 Arizona came out on top on their home course with a tournament score of 18-under. No. 19 New Mexico State finished in second place with a 5-over par.
"The course played very firm and fast today with tucked pins," Long Beach State Head Coach Rob Murray explained. "If you didn't have your A game you were going to have to fight hard to score. We struggled to get anything going today but battled hard to finish third.
Charlie Forster and Steen Zeman finished tied for seventh in the competitive field. Forster shot a 71 in the final round. "Charlie has been rock solid for us all year and he performed well again this week. He's getting closer to breaking through and getting an individual win," added Murray.
"So proud of Steen and how he played this week. He handled the opportunity to setup up into the starting five with confidence and played great," said Coach Murray as Zeman finished at 1-under par for the tournament.
Rounding out the Beach, Clay Seeber tied for 22nd while Alejandro de Castro Piera tied for 36th. Jack Cantlay, who competed as an individual, shot 6-over par in the final round and Jaden Huggins shot 2-over.
The Beach are back in action Thursday, March 28 in the Goodwin in Stanford.
