3/12/2024 10:49:00 AM | Women's Beach Volleyball

The Beach will host two ranked teams on campus Wednesday.

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach State will welcome a pair of ranked opponents to the LBSU Sand Courts on Wednesday, hosting No.16 Grand Canyon and No. 17 Georgia State.

The day's action will begin at 9:30 when Long Beach State hosts Grand Canyon. GCU and Georgia State will face each other immediately following, with the day scheduled to conclude with a 2:30 p.m. start between No. 9 Long Beach State and Georgia State.

The Beach are currently undefeated at home after knocking off multiple ranked opponents during their first weekend of matches at the LBCC Sand Courts. They swept No. 18 Stetson and only dropped one court to No. 13 Florida International. The highlight of the weekend came from their victory over No. 6 LMU.

The dual clinching point came from the fourth flight pair of Deroos and Widener, who have played exceptionally well together this season. They dropped the first set to the Lions but after a commanding second set, were able to keep the momentum going to win the the third set. The win capped off an undefeated weekend for the pair and for the Beach.

Long Beach State resumes an annual series with Grand Canyon, while the Beach and Georgia State will play for the first time since a 2020 match was canceled due to COVID-19.

Admission to all home matches are free and spectators are allowed to bring their own food and drink. For those who can't attend, live stats for all three matches can be found at http://www.beachlivestats.com
