The Beach Record Several Top 10 School Marks

Day 1 Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Long Beach State men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened competition at the University of New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational Friday at The Albuquerque Convention Center.

MEN
Cyprus Rice tied for first in the B Flight of the pole vault with Grand Canyon's Grant Hagaman. The duo both posted a leap of 16-9 1/2. Rice's mark is the ninth highest in school history.

Cameron Rhone ran 8:14.62aa to finish second in the 3000m. His performance is the second fastest in school history.

Kyle Jankans tied with Virginia Tech's Aidan Clark for second in the high jump as both went 6-11 3/4.

Micah Norfles' toss of 65-0 in the weight throw is the seventh longest in school history, allowing the junior to finish sixth in the event.

Although Elijah Harris finished out of the top 10 in the long jump, he posted the 10th best performance in school history, 23-8 3/4. He would tie for 15th with Mesa CC's Jeremiah Reed in the 56-man field.

WOMEN
Annie Murphy became the second Long Beach State entry to clear at 13 feet in the pole vault as she registered a leap of 13-0 3/4. Connie Jerz holds the Beach indoor school record at 13-3 1/2. Murphy finished in a tie for third with Lianne Kistler in Section B of the Pole Vault.
 
Sofia Lavreshina recorded the fourth quickest 200m time in school history, 24:41aa. She placed ninth in the field of 121 of competitors in the unseeded 200m race.

Giszelle Hrehor was seventh in the weight throw (60-9 1/2). She tied her career best which is the fourth longest in school history. 

Allie Scimia placed ninth in the 3000m, running 10:22.06aa.

Hailey Fune' tied for 10th in the high jump (5-5 1/4) with two other competitors.  
 
UP NEXT
The Don Kirby Invitational concludes on Saturday. The field events begin at 8 a.m. (PT) with the track events beginning at 8:30 a.m. Flo Track is streaming the meet for a fee. All links can be found on LongBeachState.com.
