Clay Seeber finished in the Top 5 for the Beach.

LIHUE, Hawaii – Junior Clay Seeber fired a 71 on Saturday, his second round under par at the John Burns Intercollegiate, finishing in a tie for fifth place overall in the 122-golfer field to help lead Long Beach State to a 7th place finish in Kauai.

Seeber's 71 pushed the junior to 6-under par for the tournament, leading the way as the Beach finished in a three-way tie with Washington State and Utah after the final day. Charlie Forster shot a one-over 73 to finished in a tie for 32nd overall, one stroke ahead of Isaac Rodea who's final day 75 placed the senior in a tie for 36th overall.

Jack Cantlay also shot a 75 Saturday, remaining one stroke behind Rodea in a tie for 44th overall, as all four scoring rounds for the Beach placed in the top half of the field. Alejandro De Castro Piera rallied from a disastrous second hole with a team-high five birdies on the day to finish 7-over in the final round.

Jaden Huggins, competing as an individual, matched Rodea and Cantlay with a final round 75, and closed the tournament in a tie for 50th place at 5-over after three rounds.

Long Beach State put big distance in between them and some of their other Big West competitors, finishing 36 strokes in front of Hawai'i and 40 strokes ahead of UC Santa Barbara, while placing in front of three programs ranked higher than the Beach in the current rankings in Fresno State, San Diego State and BYU.

LBSU is back in action in just over a week, taking part in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate over three days starting on February 26.
