Senior Clay Seeber in the top three after his first round
LIHUE, Kauai – Long Beach State gets off to a strong start to its spring season after finishing on top of the leaderboard in the opening round of the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Kauai. The Beach shot 15-under par on the first day and they hold a five-stroke lead.
Clay Seeber leads the Beach after finishing his first round at 6-under par and tied for third place. Seeber had a bogey-free round and posted six birdies on the day.
Jack Cantlay is one stroke behind Seeber and tied for fifth place after firing five birdies during his round.
Isaac Rodea, Charlie Forster, and Alejandro de Castro Piera are all tied for 22nd after shooting 2-under par in their respective first rounds, including an eagle from de Castro Piera on the fourth hole.
Jaden Huggins, who is competing as an individual, finished the round at 1-over par. Huggins had a strong front nine as he had two eagles on the second and fourth hole.
Rounding out the top spots, there is a three-way tie for second place between Grand Canyon, Washington State, and Arizona. Utah sits in fifth place with a score of 9-under.
The second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate will continue Friday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. (HT). Beach fans can follow the action at SmartGolf.
