Long Beach State Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season At The John Burns Intercollegiate

The Beach are set to compete from February 15-17 at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Lihue, Kauai
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team opens the springs season on Thursday, Feb. 15 at the John Burns Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament is a 54-hole competition which will be played at Ocean Course at Hokuala in Lihue, Kauai. The Beach will tee off at 8:30 a.m. (HT).
The competitive tournament will feature a field of 20 teams. In addition to Long Beach State and host Hawaii, the field is comprised of Arizona, Arkansas Little Rock, BYU, Cal, Fresno State, Georgia Southern, Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Saint Mary's (CA), San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas A&M, UC Santa Barbara, USC, UNLV, Utah, UTEP, and Washington State. Of the 20 teams in the field, 14 are currently ranked in the Top 100 per Scoreboard. The Beach are currently ranked 49th in Division I Men's Golf.

Long Beach State is coming off a solid fall season in which they finished in the Top 10 in each of their four events. The Beach got off to a hot start winning the Ram Masters Invitational back in September. Following their tournament title, the Beach finished sixth at the William Tucker Intercollegiate, fourth at the Badger Invitational, and 10th in Oregon State Invitational.
The Beach look to continue to build on their fall performances as they head into the John Burns Intercollegiate on Thursday. Head Coach Rob Murray is sending a talented lineup to the green with senior Clay Seeber in the No. 1 spot. Senior Isaac Rodea is second in the lineup, followed by junior Charlie Forster, sophomore Alejandro de Castro Piera, and sophomore Jack Cantlay. Sophomore Jaden Huggins will be competing in the tournament as an individual.
