Bruce Announces His First Dirtbags Recruiting Class

Long Beach State signs seven who begin play in 2026
LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State baseball coach TJ Bruce has announced the signing of Isacc Castanon, Tristan Dalzell, Trevor Goldenetz, Julian Herrera, Luke Howe, Mateo Rickman, Jaeden Toki to National Letters of Intent to continue their playing careers at the Beach.

"Tristan is a local Long Beach product out of Los Alamitos High School. He has a big presence on the mound and plenty of upside to develop into a weekend starter."
Trevor Goldenetz • OF • 6-0 • 180 • Huntington Beach, Calif. • Huntington Beach HS
"Trevor is a toolsy left-handed hitting center fielder who will impact the game on both sides of the ball. He is a plus runner with plus makeup that will fit right in with the Dirtbags."
Julian Herrera • RHP • 6-3 • 170 • Coachella, Calif. • Riverside City College • Shadow Hills HS
"Julian is a big, tall, lanky, right-handed pitcher out of Riverside City College. He will throw low to mid-90s on the mound and features multiple pitches for strikes."
Luke Howe • RHP • 6-3 • 180 • Woodland Hills, Calif. • El Camino Real Charter HS
"Luke is a plus athlete on the mound and continues to impress us with his strides over the last several months. He will show up on campus with a low 90s fastball and low to mid-80s slider."
Mateo Rickman • INF • 6-2 • 210 • Torrance, Calif. • Torrance HS
"Mateo is one of the better power hitters in Southern California. He is a proven hitter, and we are excited about him joining our offense next year."
Jaeden Toki • INF • 6-0 • 210 • Fr. • Fontana, Calif. • Etiwanda HS
"Jaeden has a plus approach at the plate and will grow into even more power as he ages. He also can be an above-average defender with plus arm strength at third base."

- Named to the 2024 Perfect Game California Preseason Honorable Mention Underclass All-American Team.
- Hit .302 with a .430 slugging, 430 on-base percentage, and a .860 OPS as a junior.
- Scored 20 runs, charted 15 RBI, posted eight doubles, and one home run in 2024.
- The team went 24-6 in 2024 and earned the No. 2 seed in the CIF Division 3 playoffs.

- A 2023 USA Baseball 16U/17U National Team Development Program member.
- Played for the 2022 USA Baseball U15 Southwest Stars in the NTIS Champions Cup.
- A 2021 USA Baseball 13U/14U Athlete Development Program Roster member.

Trevor Goldenetz • OF • 6-0 • 180 • Huntington Beach, Calif. • Huntington Beach HS
- Named to the 2024 Orange County Register first-team All-Orange County Team and the Division I All-CIF Southern Section Team.
- He led Huntington Beach High School to the 2024 CIF Division I Semifinals as a junior, hitting .394 with a .521 slugging and a .487 on-base percentage.
- Scored 27 runs, posted 11 RBI, and 10 doubles in 2024.

Julian Herrera • RHP • 6-3 • 170 • Coachella, Calif. • Riverside City College • Shadow Hills HS
- He is attending Riverside City College and will come to LBSU with three years of eligibility.
- A 2024 Shadow Hills High School graduate where, he made 29 appearances and recorded two saves.
- Herrera struck out 125 in 107 innings during his prep career, including 51 as a junior.

Luke Howe • RHP • 6-3 • 180 • Woodland Hills, Calif. • El Camino Real Charter HS
- A CalHi Sports All-State nominee from the CIF L.A. City Section.
- A 2024 CIF-LA City Open Division All-City Selection.
- Hit .391 as a junior.
"Luke is a plus athlete on the mound and continues to impress us with his strides over the last several months. He will show up on campus with a low 90s fastball and low to mid-80s slider."
Mateo Rickman • INF • 6-2 • 210 • Torrance, Calif. • Torrance HS
- Rickman was chosen as the 2024 Daily Breeze Player of the Year. Hit .420 with five home runs and 31 RBI as a junior. Rickman struck out 14 in 12 innings of work on the mound.
- Rickman was named 2023 Daily Breeze Player of the Year after hitting .400 with three home runs and 32 RBI. Rickman went 3-0 as a pitcher during the 2023 season.
- Selected 2023 Pioneer League MVP and first-team All-CIF Division 1
