
Women’s Golf Climbs Into Fifth Behind Strong Final Day From Leovao Twins

Jasmine Leovao finished with a 68 while Janae Leovao shot a 69 to lead Long Beach State on Tuesday.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Both Jasmine and Janae Leovao finished the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational with rounds in the 60s on Tuesday, wrapping up the fall season by lifting Long Beach State to a fifth-place finish at the Lawrence Country Club.
Long Beach State tied with runner-up Missouri for the best team score of the final day, a two-over par 290 to climb up three spots and finish in fifth.
Jasmine Leovao climbed 14 spots to join the Top 10 in a tie for seventh place overall, recording six birdies in a 4-under par 68. Janae Leovao also had a strong day to rise 14 sports into a tie for 11th. Using an eagle on four to sit -4 after four holes on Tuesday, Janae Leovao finished off the round with a 69, matching her best round of the year as the Oceanside duo led the way for the Beach.
Junior Madison Le finished the tournament with a 76 to finish in 37th place, while Andee Avery had a 77 to claim Long Beach State's fourth scoring round on Tuesday. Erin Lee finished in a tie for 48th overall, matching her best finish of the year.
The hosts, Kansas, claimed the team championship while Veronika Kedronova of Kent Stat was the individual medalist.
Long Beach State will break for the semester, and will return to action in February. The team will face off against San Diego State in a dual match held on Monday, February 3 at The Farms in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., before hosting the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. on February 15-17.
