Charlie Foster Places Fifth At Cal Poly Invitational To Close Fall Schedule

Long Beach State finished in fifth as a team in the final tournament of the fall.
CARMEL, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf wrapped up the fall schedule of competition, placing fifth out of 13 teams in a strong field at the Cal Poly Invitational on Tuesday.
Final Results
Senior Charlie Forster led the way for Long Beach State. Shooting three straight rounds under par, Forster closed the tournament with his best round, a three-under par 69. That came on the heels of closing out round two with a 70 after a round one 71, as Forster finished 6-under par for the tournament fifth place overall. "Another impressive tournament from Charlie," said head coach Rob Murray. "He continues to be our backbone week in and week out."
"The guys showed a lot of fight throughout the event," added Murray."The setup was challenginng with tuck pins and very fast undulating greens."
Alejandro de Castro Piera also had his best round of the tournament to close the action, shooting a two-under par 70 on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 24th in the 72-golfer field. Krishnav Chopraa was one stroke behind, riding a strong first round score of 68 to a tie for 28th overall.
Steen Zeman and Clay Seeber both finished the resumed second round with even par scores of 72, and closed the day with identical rounds of 77.
Long Beach State finished in front of No. 10 Utah as well as GCU, Oregon State, LMU and Cal as well as Big West foe and hosts, Cal Poly.
"Overall our fall has been a big success, finishing with a record of 46-8-2. We now enter the off season where we will continue to find ways to get better," said Murray.
Men's Golf will break for the winter, and is scheduled to return to action February 13 at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Kauai.
