THE KICKOFF
Long Beach State travels to UC Irvine this Sunday in the next to final regular season match of the 2024 season. The action on ESPN+ begins at 6 p.m.

SCOUTING THE ANTEATERS
UC Irvine begins the week with a 5-6-5 record, 3-2-3 in Big West play. Like the Beach, the Anteaters are playing only one match this week.

Emilie Castagna was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. She scored three of the five UCI goals last week. She scored twice in the 3-1 win against Cal State Fullerton and added the game winner in the 3-2 victory against UC Davis.

Laila El Behery is tied for sixth in the Big West in goals (5) with four other players. Her 11 points are the ninth most in the league. Ashley Naylor has played all but 20:29 in goal for UCI this season. She has made 45 saves and posted a 1.27 goals-against average. She has posted three shutouts.

AGAINST THE OPPONENT
UC Irvine leads the all-time series against Long Beach State 15-10-9.

THE BIG WEST RACE
The Big West race is heading down the stretch as Long Beach State has three matches remaining in the regular season.

Hawai'i has clinched a Big West Tournament spot. The Rainbow Wahine are the league leaders with 19 points (6-1-1). UC Santa Barbara is second (16, 4-1-4), followed by UC Davis (4-2-2), Cal State Fullerton (4-3-2), and Cal State Bakersfield (4-3-2), who all have 14 points.

UC Irvine (3-2-3) and CSUN (3-3-3) are next with 12, followed by Long Beach State (3-4-1) and Cal Poly (3-4-1) with 10: UC Riverside (0-5-3) and UC San Diego (0-6-2) round out the standings.

The top six clubs reach the Big West Championships. Note: UC San Diego is in its first Division I postseason eligibility season.

LAST TIME OUT
