UC Davis Edges Long Beach State 3-2

The Aggies score twice in 1:41 in the 79th and 80th minutes
LONG BEACH, Calif.—UC Davis scored twice in a 1:41 span over the 79th and 80th minutes to defeat Long Beach State 3-2 in Big West women's soccer action Thursday night at George Allen Field.
The first threat of the match came in the third minute when Liz Worden sent Summer Laskey towards the UC Davis goal. Caeley Goldstein saved Laskey's attempt from inside the six.
The Aggies nearly got on the board in the 17th when Sam Tristan dribbled inside the six-yard box, where Aurora Schuck turned her shot back. The Aggies struck two minutes later when Genavieve Fontes, UC Davis' leading scorer, capped off an Aggies' run with an attempt just inside the 18 from the left side that found the top right of the LBSU goal.
The Beach tied the score with 6:18 remaining in the first half. Long Beach State rushed towards UC Davis. With several LBSU players in front, Kana Uchida passed to Kailey Supa, who took advantage as her attempt from 25 yards out found the top left of the UC Davis goal.
Both teams recorded early attempts in the second half as Sammie Ruelas of UC Davis and Alanah Ramirez of LBSU had shots blocked. Tristan charted the Aggies' fifth shot of the game, going wide, in the 55th minute.
With the match being played in the middle of the field for the next 15 minutes, Worden broke through for a rush in the 73rd. From the left, her try went wide right. Julia Moore scored the go-ahead goal with 14:52 remaining. Gaining possession at midfield from a Uchida pass, she dribbled to the 18, where her low-line drive found the low right of the net.
UC Davis kicked off and worked their way towards the Long Beach State net, where Tristan's attempt was saved by Schuck, resulting in a corner kick. The Aggies used the set piece to find Abella Hunter, who had her shot blocked by the LBSU defense. UC Davis gained another corner that found the Aggies offside.
Tristan tied the game again four minutes later when she headed in a Jayde Holley cross two yards out of the Long Beach State goal. Hunter put the Aggies into the lead at 80:50 when she dribbled into the Beach offensive zone. She shot from 10 yards out into the bottom left of the goal. Malea Johnson had the final LBSU attempt as Goldstein saved her shot in the final minute.
The Aggies (9-4, 2-2 Big West) outshot the Beach 10-7. Both clubs registered five shots on goal. UC Davis posted four corner kicks, while Long Beach State had two. The Aggies were booked for two yellow cards and 13 fouls. LBSU tallied two fouls.
