Long Beach State Takes Home the Trophy After Placing First at the Ram Masters Invitational

Three Beach players finish in the Top 10 to lead Long Beach State in their first tournament of the season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Long Beach State Men's Golf kicked off the 2023-24 season with a first place title at the Ram Masters Invitational. The group finished 15-under par as sophomore Jack Cantlay and senior Clay Seeber tied for second and led the way finishing the tournament in the top five as both shot 4-under par over three rounds.

The Beach soared over their competition finishing 11 strokes ahead of second place finisher and host Colorado State. Big West foe Cal State Fullerton rounded out the top three as the Titans shot 1-over par.
 
Cantlay put up three solid rounds after starting the tournament off hot on day one shooting 4-under par with six birdies in his first round. Finishing 4-under through the three, his steady performance guided the Beach to the overall victory.
 
Seeber also led the Beach with a second-place tie after a stellar three rounds. He had a five-birdie second round to finish 2-under for the day. Ending the three-day contest 4-under par added insurance to the Beach's performance.
 
Junior transfer Charlie Forster finished in sixth place after shooting 2-under par for the tournament. The newcomer started his Long Beach career strong, shooting 5-under par with seven birdies in his first round of play and 4-under in the final round of action.
 
Jaden Huggins shaved five strokes off his game as he moved up 15 spot to finish tied for 12th with a 1-over par showing. Alejandro De Castro Piera rounded out the tournament tied for 21st at 5-over.
 
Norwin Gohm, who was competing as an individual, finished 7-over in a tie for 29th place.
 
The Beach will be back in action on September 24th and 25th for the William Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M.
