
Long Beach State Sits on Top of the Leaderboard After Two Rounds of the Ram Masters Invitational

Jack Cantlay leads the Beach finishing the first day tied for second place
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Long Beach State started the new season out strong, finishing tied for first after two rounds of the Rams Masters Invitational. Sophomore Jack Cantlay leads the team and is tied for second place at 5-under par.
The Beach finished round one in sole possession of first place after collectively shooting 10-under par and followed that shooting an even 280 to complete the day at 10-under par. The Beach are tied with host, Colorado State, followed by Big West rival Cal State Fullerton, who sits at 7-under par.
Cantlay, who is the reigning Big West Freshman of the Year, started out the 2023-2024 season shooting 4-under in the first round. He would go on to finish 5-under for the day and six strokes behind the leader.
Senior Clay Seeber is three strokes behind Cantlay to hold sixth place on the leaderboard, while Charlie Forster finished the two rounds at 1-under par and is tied for seventh after shooting a 65 in the opening round.
Rounding out the rest of the Beach, Alejandro de Castro Piera shot an even par to end the first day of the two-day tournament tied for 10th place. Jaden Huggins is tied for 27th after finishing four-over par.
Norwin Gohm, who is competing as an individual, currently sits at 2-over par after shooting even par in the second round.
The Beach will compete in the final round Thursday, September 7th with tee times set to begin at 8 a.m. Live scoring is available via Golf Genius.
