LBSU Men’s Golf Set To Compete At The Badger Invitational

The Beach look to continue to build on early season success at their third fall tournament of the year

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team heads to Madison, Wisc., to compete at the Badger Invitational. The three-day tournament begins Sunday, Oct. 1 and concludes Tuesday, Oct. 3 a the TPC Wisconsin Golf Course.

The tournament, hosted by Wisconsin, features a competitive group of 16 teams. In addition to Long Beach State, the Badger Invitational includes Ball State, Campbell, Eastern Michigan, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Loyola Chicago, Marquette, Maryland, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Tennessee, VCU, and Western Carolina.

Teams will tee off on Sunday beginning at 8 a.m., while the Beach will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on hole 1 along with Wisconsin and Illinois State.

Long Beach State is led by senior Clay Seeber who has been the top finisher for the Beach in the last two tournaments. Seeber opened the season with a tied for second place finish at the Ram Masters Invitational after firing a 70-68-68 for a 206, 4-under par performance to lead LBSU to the tournament title. He followed that performance with a tie for seventh place at the William Tucker Intercollegiate where he shot 70-72-66 for a 208, 8-under par showing. On the year, Seeber owns a team-best 69.00 stroke average.

Junior transfer Charlie Forster will tee off in the No. 2 position for the Beach. The product out of Winchester, England has been successful in his first two outings of the season with LBSU. He kicked off the season with a 65-74-69 effort to place sixth at the Ram Masters Invitational with a 208, 2-under par performance. The following week, Forster was Long Beach State's second finisher with a 4-under par showing at the William Tucker Intercollegiate. His stroke average of 70.00 is good for second on the squad.

Isaac Rodea, a senior from San Diego, Calif., will hit the green in his second tournament of the season. Last week, Rodea shot an even 216 at the William Tucker Intercollegiate as he looks to build on his performance at the Badger Invitational.

Sophomore Jaden Huggins heads to the Badger Invitational looking to improve on his two earlier tournament showings. In the first contest of the season, Huggins finished in a tie for 12th place at the Ram Masters Invitational as he shot 1-over par. Last weekend, he finished 3-over at the William Tucker Invitational.

Making his Long Beach State debut at the Badger Invitational is junior transfer Steen Zeman. The Oxnard, Calif., native previously played two years at Ventura College and posted a stroke average of 72.50. The Western State Conference Player of the Year excelled on the green for Pirates capturing the individual title with a 2-under par 142. Zeman looks to come in at the Beach and make an immediate impact.

Competing as an individual at the Badger Invitational is sophomore Alejandro de Castro Piera. In his LBSU debut, he helped the Beach capture the Ram Masters Invitational Title shooting a 69-71-75 for a 215, 5-over par performance.
