Men’s Water Polo Wins Two In Home Debut

Long Beach State took care of business against LBCC and Biola ad will return to play next weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif.—No. 8 Long Beach State looked strong in their 2023 home debut as they won games against Long Beach City College and Biola. The Beach continued to produce on offense as they scored 43 goals throughout the two games.
Long Beach State opened the day with a dominant win over Long Beach City College. Bruno Chiappini opened the scoring in under a minute of play to set the tone for the rest of the game, as Long Beach State would go on to win by a score of 25-3. Abdelrahman Soliman led the way for the Beach with four goals with Chiappini, Evan Cain, and Marc Frigola each scoring three goals. Overall, Long Beach State had 11 different goal scorers. Defensively for the Beach, Gabe Haddad spent most of the game in goal and recorded a season-high 11 saves.
The second game of the day once again saw Long Beach State get off to a quick start. Holding Biola scoreless, the Beach finished the quarter with a 40 lead behind goals from Chiappini, Frigola, Robert Lopez Duart, and Guillermo Ocasio. The Beach would go on to outscore Biola in each of the remaining quarters on the way to an 18-9 victory. Bruno Chiappini, Marc Frigola, Robert Lopez Duart, and Abdelrahman Soliman each scored three goals and Lopez Duart led the team with three assists. On the defensive side of the game, Lopez Duart and Evan Cain each had three steals, while Liam Ward recorded six saves.
Long Beach State's season will continue next weekend as they will compete in the MPSF Invite starting with a game against UC Irvine on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
