Lee brings championship experience to Long Beach State, while Rosario comes to the Beach with more than 20 years of coaching experience
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Head Women's Basketball Coach Amy Wright announced the hiring of two assistant coaches as Wright welcomes Jashae Lee and Brian Rosario to her staff.
"I am really excited to welcome Jashae and Brian to the Beach Family," said Wright.
Lee comes to Long Beach State after working as an assistant women's basketball coach at Trinity Valley Community College where she helped guide the Lady Cardinals to the 2023 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship finals. Trinity Valley finished the year with an impressive 34-3 overall record.
"Jashae is returning home to southern California with more than seven years of coaching experience," said Wright. "She is an exceptional communicator and will be a great role model and mentor for the women on this team. I am excited for her to get on the court with our players and see her push them towards their absolute potential. Jashae has the pedigree of being part of two championship programs and is hungry to impact the Beach."
Prior to her year at Trinity Valley, Lee spent two years at New Mexico Junior College as an assistant coach. With Lee's help, the Thunderbirds won the 2022 Region V JCAC Conference Championship after posting a 25-6 overall record and going a perfect 13-0 at home. Her efforts were rewarded as she was selected as a 2022 WBCA 30 Under Thirty honoree. In 2022, she also served as the head coach for the JUCO Top 40 All-Star Game.
Lee previous gained experience working with the University of Arkansas-Monticello, Paris Junior College, and Murray State.
As a student-athlete, Lee played one season at NMJC before transferring to Murray State where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in psychology and a Master's Degree in human development and leadership.
Rosario comes to Long Beach State after spending four years as an assistant women's basketball coach at Pepperdine. During the summer of 2022, he served as the head coach of the Philippines U16 National Team as they competed at the Asia Cup Championship. In the summer of 2020, Rosario was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Social Justice Task Force, which functions under the auspices of the association's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and is focused on promoting racial equality in three areas: hiring practices, training and education, and advocacy and awareness.
"Brian is a west coast guy with west coast ties," said Wright. "What I love the most about him is he has the utmost respect from the entire women's basketball community for his impact on the women's game. Brian has over two decades of basketball coaching under his belt, including collegiate, international, and high school. He is respected here in California at the DI level. Not only is Brian a great coach, but he also operates in the vein of being service oriented as a person. His impact at the Beach will be felt immediately."
Prior to his time at Pepperdine, Rosario gained experience as the head coach of Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz., where he rebuilt the program earning the program's first playoff berth in five years, and their first national ranking in nine years.
Rosario also coached at the club and high school levels, while working as an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount, Cornell, McNeese State, and the University of the Cumberlands. A graduate of the University of San Diego, Rosario earned his Bachelor's Degree in business administration before getting his Master's Degree in special education from the University of the Cumberlands.
