Women’s Golf Climbs To Third Place Finish At Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

Long Beach State was the top placing Big West school, grabbing a podium place in the 20-team field.
MARICOPA, Ariz. – Long Beach State had the second-best team score of the day in the final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic to help lift the Beach to a third place finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
As a team, the Beach was one of only two teams under 300 on the day with a 299, picking up one spot overall and placing third overall among the 20-team field behind Sacramento State and UNLV.
Jasmine Leovao paced Long Beach State for the tournament, finishing fourth overall among 108 participants, finishing 3-over par for the tournament after a final round 76.
Junior Angelina Kim had the best day for the team on Tuesday, shooting an even-par 72 to rise 33 spots into a tie for 16th overall. Junior Hannah Ko's consistent play also continued as the Beach had three players in the Top 20, as Ko finished the tournament eight-over par in a tie for 11th place.
Janae Leovao had the team's second-best score in the final round, shooting 74 to rise into a tie for 29th overall, while Kristina Ponomareva was the team's dropped score with a respectable final day 79.
Long Beach State will continue their busy final run, competing in the Silicon Valley Showcase next week on April 10-11 from the Green Hills Country Club in Milbrae, Calif., the third tournament in four weeks for the team culminating the upcoming Big West Championships April 16-18.
