Jasmine Leovao Places In Top 10 As Women’s Golf Finishes Silicon Valley Showcase

As a team, the Beach had the third-lowest score in Tuesday's final round.
MILLBRAE, Calif. – Long Beach State held on to their position in the final day of the Silicon Valley Showcase, placing in fifth overall as a team as Jasmine Leovao and Hannah Ko led the way individually for the Beach, both placing in the Top 20 in the final competition for women's golf prior to the Big West Championship.
As a team, the Beach shot a 301 on the day, the third-best score in the field behind co-champions No. 1 Stanford and No. 25 Pepperdine. The Beach's rise up the leaderboard ended up one stroke short of pulling back Nevada who had a six-stroke lead on LBSU entering Tuesday.
Freshman Jasmine Leovao shot an even-par 71 for the second time at Green Hills Country Club, rising four spots individually and finishing tied for 7th overall, six-over par for the tournament. Hannah Ko had another consistent day, shooting 75 to rise three spots herself and move into 14th overall in the 54-golfer field.
Freshman Madison Le had her best round of the tournament, making a pair of birdies and finishing with a six-over 77, the third-best score of the day for Long Beach State. Angelina Kim was one stroke back of Le with a 78 on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 33rd overall while Janae Leovao slipped into a tie for 29th overall in the final day of the tournament.
Long Beach State will finish off the regular season next week with the Big West Championship, hosted by the conference at the Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, Nev. The Beach will be one of the favorites among the nine teams, with one round being played on three consecutive days beginning on Sunday, April 16.
