The Beach garnered the doubles point but fell during singles action.

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Women's Tennis picked up the doubles victory, but fell to Cal Poly, 6-1, at Rhodes Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action, Cal Poly's Melissa LaMette and Alexandra Ozerets collected a 6-3 victory over Sarah Medik and Hana Becirovic Novak on court three. However, the Beach fought back and won the next two flights on courts one and two. Duo Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook defeated Kim Bhunu and Kennedy Buntrock by a score of 6-4 on court two. For the season, Ramstedt and Cook have now improved to a 7-3 doubles record. On court one, Sheena Masuda and Justine Dondonay garnered a gritty 7-6 win over Delanie Dunkle and Peyton Dunkle to clinch the Beach's doubles point.

In singles action, Kennedy Buntrock collected her victory against Becirovic Novak on court six by a score of 6-0, 6-2 to even the match at 1-1.

On court two, Melissa LaMette got the best of Ramstedt as she picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win to break the tie and give the Mustangs' a 2-1 lead.

Peyton Dunkle earned her victory over Doga Akyurek on court four in a 6-3, 6-1 victory.

Securing Cal Poly's victory, Alexandra Ozerets garnered a tough win against Cook on court five, 6-2, 7-6 while giving the Mustang's fourth point of the day.

On court one, Medik battled but fell short against Kim Bhunu, 7-5, 6-3.

To wrap up the day, Mathilde Tranberg had a back-and-forth second set to potentially give the Beach their first singles victory on court three, but Delanie Dunkle won the flight, 6-3, 7-6. Dunkle's victory gave the Mustang's their final point, ending the dual match, 6-1.

Long Beach State will be back home on Wednesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at Rhodes Tennis Center when they take on Youngstown State.
