Women’s Golf Travels To Arizona For Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

Wyoming will host the tournament from the Southern Dunes Golf Club from Maricopa, Ariz.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State continues the home stretch of the season, traveling to Maricopa, Arizona to take part in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Southern Dunes Golf Club.
Long Beach State has finished in the Top 5 in every tournament so far during the spring season, and aims to continue their strong play leading into the final few weeks of the regular season. The Wyoming Cowgirl Classic begins on Monday, April 3 with two rounds scheduled with a final round to finish the tournament on Tuesday, April 4.
Twin sisters Janae and Jasmine Leovao had an identical placing at last week's Fresno State Classic, both in the Top 10 at four-over par for the tournament, and the duo will lead the lineup from Southern Dunes, which Janae playing first and Jasmine playing second.
Sophomore Kristina Ponomareva will play in her highest spot of the spring season after sharing the third-best score on the team from Fresno. Ponomareva was tied with Hannah Ko who will play fourth, while Angelina Kim, the individual champion at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational will round out the lineup for the Beach.
The team will face a packed field at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, with 17 teams playing in the field. Hosted by Wyoming, three other Big West schools will be participating in UC Davis, Hawai'i and Cal State Fullerton. Rounding out the field will be Boise State, California Baptist, Fresno State, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, UNLV, and UTEP.
