Long Beach State Finishes Fourth At Fresno State Classic

Jasmine, Janae Leovao each finish in the Top 10 to lead the Beach.
FRESNO, Calif. – Long Beach State closed out the Fresno State Classic in fourth place out of 15 teams with freshmen Janae and Jasmine Leovao each finishing the Top 10 individual after carding identical rounds of 77 on the final day.
The hosts Fresno State climbed up one spot on the final day to claim the team championship among the 15-team field, just in front of Grand Canyon, UC Riverside and Long Beach State.
Jasmine Leovao birdied her final hole of the day to finish the tournament at +4 overall, part of a three-way tie for eighth place with her sister Janae and Malene Arildsen of Oral Roberts.
Kristina Ponomareva shot a team-best 76 on Tuesday to climb into a tie for 45th overall, matching the score of junior Hannah Ko who also finished with a roller coaster 78 on the day. Angelina Kim finished off the lineup for the Beach with a final round 81.
Madison Le also had a good tournament as an individual, finishing in a tie for 38th overall after the final day of competition, 14-over par for the tournament.
Long Beach State will continue a busy schedule next week, taking part in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, hosted in Arizona at the Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa on April 3-4. The Beach will then play in the Silicon Valley Showcase before closing out the regular season at the Big West Championship in Las Vegas, April 16-18.
