No. 13 Beach Volleyball to Host Four Teams This Weekend

Long Beach State will host nine total matches Friday through Saturday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 13 ranked Beach Volleyball team will host their first home matches of the season as they welcome No. 16 Stetson, Texas, Utah, and Big West foe CSUN to Long Beach for the weekend. The matches will be played at Long Beach City College due to court conditions after the rainstorms on Tuesday.

ABOUT THE BEACH
-- Long Beach State (4-8) jumps in the poll after two wins last week, including a victory over then-No. 13 Florida Atlantic. The Beach remains ranked for the 91st consecutive week since the poll first came out in 2013.
-- The Beach had a busy week playing six duals, starting with a pair of Monday duals ahead of the Battle for L.A. Overall, they went 2-4 in those duals with their wins coming against Concordia-Irvine and Florida Atlantic.
-- Four newcomers have headlined the Beach thus far this season. Competing in the fifth flight, the pair of transfers, Natalie Glenn and Maggie Walters, have been dominant with an 8-3 overall record. Similarly, the freshmen duo of Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah have been equally as impressive in flight number three with an 8-4 overall record.

-- The Beach kicks off the weekend with Texas, who is searching for not only their first win of the season but their first win in program history. A brand new sport at the University of Texas, the Longhorns have started their inaugural season with an 0-6 record in a tough schedule featuring four duals with Top 20 teams.
-- No. 16 Stetson will be opponent number in the first of two in two days between the Beach and the Hatters. They own a 7-5 record to start the season coming off a 2-2 weekend at South Carolina. They are 1-4 on the season against ranked teams with the lone win coming against then No. 12 Florida Atlantic on opening day.

-- The Beach will take on Utah and No. 16 Stetson again on Saturday to close out the weekend.
-- The Utes are 4-10 on the young season and have lost three straight entering the weekend. They have played just three ranked opponents and are 0-3 having yet to win a point in such duals.

-- LBSU and Stetson are even at 3-3 in the all-time series with the Beach winning the last matchup, 4-1, last season.
