LONG BEACH, Calif. –
Long Beach State erased a 22-point deficit as they outscored UC Santa Barbara 45-24 in the second half to win an exciting come-from-behind contest, 66-63, and extend their winning streak to 13 games.

With the win, the Beach improve to 20-7 on the year, marking the program's first 20-win since 2016-17. In Big West action, LBSU remains at the top of the conference standings with a 15-2 record as the Beach hold a 2.5 game lead over UC Irvine with three games remaining. A loss by the Anteaters tonight will give Long Beach State at least a share of the Big West Regular Season Title.

LBSU shot 41.0 percent in the game, while UCSB (18-9, 11-6 Big West) finished with a 37.5 field goal percentage. The Gauchos outrebounded the Beach, 37-30, but Long Beach State held the edge in steals (9-7), turnovers forced (18-9), and points off turnovers (13-12).

Santa Barbara got off to a strong start opening the game with five-straight points. The Gauchos then used a 9-0 run to jump out in front 14-2. Long Beach State strung together six-consecutive points to make it a 14-8 game, but found themselves down, 19-12, at the end of the first quarter.

The Gauchos opened the second quarter scoring 11-straight points as they went on a 13-0 run which started with a second chance layup with less than a minute left to play in the first quarter to put UCSB up 30-12. UC Santa Barbara controlled the second quarter as they limited LBSU to just 18.1 percent shooting and outscored the Beach, 20-9, to take a 39-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Long Beach State came out of the locker room with determination and promptly went on a 9-0 run highlighted by a Ma'Qhi Berry driving layup at 8:00. After a triple from Tori Harris with 5:30 remaining in the frame, the Beach had managed to make it a 41-30 game. But they weren't done yet. Long Beach State used an 11-0 run capped by a three-point play from Berry to make it a one-possession game (44-41) in favor of the Gauchos. UCSB held a three-point lead (47-44) at the end of the quarter as LBSU outscored the visitors 23-8 in the frame.

Berry opened the fourth quarter with a driving layup to bring the Beach within one (47-46) and Harris gave Long Beach State its first lead of the game (48-47) on a second chance layup at 8:51. The Beach scored seven-straight points to lead by four (51-47) as UC Santa Barbara called a timeout. The break did little to stop the Beach as they rode their momentum to a five-point lead (54-49) after a three from Kianna Hamilton-Fisher at 7:07. Five points was the most LBSU would lead by in the game, as UC Santa Barbara would come back and even the score at 61-all after Alexis Tucker made a free throw to complete the three-point play with 1:51 remaining. Berry broke the tie and scored the eventual game-winner as she was fouled while making a driving layup, then sunk the free throw for the and-one to put Long Beach State up 64-61. The Beach would hold on to win, 66-63.

Berry would finish the game with a season-high 21 points as she knocked down 8-of-14 field goals and made 5-of-7 free throws. She also added six boards, four assists, and two steals, without committing a turnover. Harris had a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 17 points for a double-double. Hamilton-Fisher rounded out the LBSU double-digit scorers with 14 points, while adding four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

UC Santa Barbara finished the game with three double-figure scorers as well. Alyssa Marin led the way with 15 points, while Tucker added 13, and Ila Lane recorded 11 to go along with 10 boards for a double-double. Marin also led the team with five assists.

Long Beach State will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 25 against CSUN at Premier America Credit Union Arena in Northridge, Calif. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
