LONG BEACH, Calif. – After kicking off the spring season with a Top 5 finish at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, Long Beach State will travel to Lihue, Kauai to compete in the John Burns Intercollegiate from Thursday, Feb. 16 through Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.

The 46th annual John Burns Intercollegiate will be played over three days and will feature a competitive field including LBSU and host Hawaii, as well as Arizona, BYU, Cal, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, Nevada, Santa Clara, Sacramento State, San Diego State, Saint Mary's, Texas A&M, Utah, UTEP, UNC Wilmington, UNLV, USC, and Washington State.

The Beach will send its strong lineup of Ian Gilligan, Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa, Isaac Rodea, Jaden Huggins, and Jack Cantlay to the green. Additionally, Steven Deutsch will be competing as an individual.

Gilligan, a sophomore out of Reno, Nev., has been the Long Beach State leader this season winning two tournaments in the fall season and earning a Top 3 finish at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate last month.

Chopraa looks to build on his last outing in which he finished 8-over par, while Rodea will tee off in the No. 3 spot for the Beach after finishing 3-over par last month.

Huggins, a freshman from Murrieta, Calif., will make his spring debut at the John Burns Intercollegiate, while Cantlay rounds out the Beach starting five after posting an 8-under par at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in January.

Deutsch will also make his spring debut after playing in two fall tournaments for Long Beach State. In the fall season, the sophomore turned in his best performance at the Husky Invitational last September when he finished in the Top 20 with a 4-over par showing.

Long Beach State will tee off at the John Burns Intercollegiate Thursday, Feb. 16 at 8:30 a.m. Fans can follow the action via golfstat.com.
