The NCAA Division III runner-up in 2023 at the University of Redlands, Jugar will join the Long Beach State program for the 2024-2025 season.
LONG BEACH, Calif – Alyssa Waite and Lexi Nielsen have announced the commitment of Hannah Jugar, a Division III star at the University of Redlands who comes to the Beach as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining, using her extra COVID-19 eligibility.
Jugar was a four-time First-Team All-American with Redlands, and as an individual was the NCAA national runner up in Division III while leading the Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish as a team at the 2023 Division III championship, ultimately finishing the year ranked as the No. 3 golfer in the nation. A four-time all-region and all-league pick as well, Jugar had the two lowest stroke averages in program history as a junior and a senior, setting the Redlands mark with a 73.61 average in 2021-22. Additionally, she helped the Bulldogs to a pair of Top 5 national team finishes during her career.
Capping off a tremendous career with the Bulldogs, Jugar was selected as one of two nominees from the SCIAC for the NCAA Woman of the Year. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Jugar was a four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, and graduated last May with a degree in Environmental Science and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.770. She earned Magna Cum Laude Honors and the 2023 Roger Tomlinson Undergraduate Award for Excellence in GIS in 2023 and made the CAS Dean's List in Fall 2019, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023.
Last year, she participated in the University of Redlands Summer Science Research Program. While working with the San Bernardino National Forest – Bearpaw Reserve, she helped to analyze wildlife populations and vegetation succession after the 2020 El Dorado Fire by using GIS remote sensing, wildlife camera installation, ArcGIS Field Maps, and measuring canopy coverage, height, slope, aspect, soil moisture, basal area, and tree diameter at breast height (DBH).
"I'm super excited that Hannah has decided to return to college golf and join us next season," said Waite. "She comes in with a ton of experience, and playing at the Division III level she was able to establish a great balance between her golf, life and classroom responsibilities. Now, she wants to challenge herself and take her golf to the next level. She already knows how to win and how to be a part of a team, and I anticipate that she'll be a great leader for us."
