Women’s Golf Leads Clash At Boulder Creek After First Day

Sophomore Janae Leovao is tied for the individual lead as well after a tremendous first round Sunday.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Long Beach State continued their strong play to close out the fall, and lead the 19-team Clash at Boulder Creek after the first of three days from Boulder Creek Golf Course.
Long Beach State won their last tournament, the Golf Iconic Classic from Las Cruces, N.M. while leading wire-to-wire and set themselves up for more success with the only team score under par for the day, a five-under 283 to take a six-stroke lead into the second day in front of San Francisco.
Sophomore Janae Leovao was the top scorer for Long Beach State. Carding her seventh straight under-par round, Leovao finished with a 3-under par 69 and closed the day in a tie for first place overall in the 104-golfer field with Riana Mission of San Francisco.
The Beach also had two other golfers finish in the Top 5. Freshman Andee Avery finished with birdies in two of her final three holes to close out the day with a two-under par 70, third place overall behind Leovao and Mission. Senior Angelina Kim was the third Beach golfer under par and one of just eight in the field, tied for fourth overall with a one-under par 71 in the first round.
Long Beach State's final counting score on the day came from sophomore Madison Le, who birdied her final hole of the day to finish with a one-over par 73. Jasmine Leovao finished with a 77 to finish up the Beach scores on the day.
