No. 6 Long Beach State will face Concordia and Fresno Pacific on Saturday.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 6 Long Beach State Men's Water Polo will remain on the road for one more weekend, taking part in the Gary Troyer Tournament for one day this coming Saturday.

Long Beach State (10-5, 1-0 GCC) moved up a spot in the rankings after a strong showing at the MPSF invite, and will face two opponents on October 1 before returning to Golden Coast Conference play.

Playing in two locations, the Beach will first start at Claremont College, where the Beach is scheduled to take on Concordia at 10:20 a.m. The Beach will then transition over to Pomona-Pitzer, where the Sagehens will play host to LBSU and Fresno Pacific starting at 2:20 p.m.

Both matches are scheduled to have live streaming through the host institutions, while live statistics will be available at www.thefosh.net.

Long Beach State's veteran leadership has helped the team get off to a good start this season. Rafael Real Vergara has twice scored five goals in a game, including against No. 14 San Jose State, and is leading the squad with 27 goals on the year. Senior Matt Morris is just behind Vergara in goal total with 24, while Garrett Zaan has scored 22, including four in an important win last Saturday against UC Davis.

The games over the weekend should help Long Beach State continue to develop and showcase the team's depth, as Concordia enters the Gary Troyer Tournament with a 2-10 overall record, while Fresno Pacific is still seeking their first win of the year.

After the two games Saturday, Long Beach State will turn their attention to a critical Golden Coast Conference matchup between No. 4 Pacific and the Beach at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center. Tickets are available now for that clash which is set for Saturday, October 8 at 7 p.m.
