Long Beach Men’s Golf Heads to Nick Watney Invitational

The Beach will compete September 26-27 at the Kings River Country Club
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team will participate in the Nick Watney Invitational on Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Kings River Country Club in Kingsburg, Calif., hosted by Fresno State.
The Beach are coming off of a solid showing in last week's season opening tournament in which they finished in the Top 5 at the Husky Invitational.
At the Nick Watney Invite, Long Beach State will send the starting lineup of senior Isaac Rodea, freshman Jaden Huggins, sophomore Ian Gilligan, redshirt senior Bryce Kvick, and sophomore Steven Deutsch into competition. Additionally, freshman Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa will be competing as an individual.
Rodea had a solid outing last week at the Husky Invitational as he shot 71-73-73 for a 217 1-over par showing as the Beach's top finisher. He tied for eighth place to lead the squad and will be teeing off in the No. 1 spot for Long Beach State this week.
Huggins made his collegiate debut last week and shot 72-76-78 for a 10-over par 226. He will tee off in the No. 2 spot as he looks to build on his opening weekend score.
Gilligan will make his 2022-23 debut after a rookie campaign in which he was named Big West Freshman of the Year and to the All-Big West First Team.
After competing as an individual last week, Kvick will be part of the Long Beach State starting five at the Nick Watney Invitational. After shooting 80-76-73 for 16-over, Kvick looks to improve on his score this week.
Rounding out the starting lineup for LBSU, is Deutsch who was Long Beach State's second finisher a week ago with a 69-75-73 4-over par showing to place in the Top 20.
Chopraa, a freshman from New Delhi, India, will make his collegiate debut competing as an individual at the Nick Watney Invitational.
