LONG BEACH, Calif. – Former Dirtbags utility man, Jeff McNeil, has been chosen for the second All-Star Game appearance of his major league career. After battling injuries last season, the Mets second baseman has returned to form as one of the best infielders in the National League this season.

For the season, he has appeared in 77 games, 46 of which have come at second base and 31 in the outfield. He has registered 82 hits in 264 at-bats while scoring 38 runs and recording 35 RBI.
With his second selection, he joins a group of Jason Giambi (2000-04), Evan Longoria (2008-10), Troy Tulowitzki (2010-11, 13-15), and Jered Weaver (2010-12) as former Dirtbags to appear in multiple MLB All-Star Games. Overall, it is the 21st selection for Long Beach State alum.
The MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 19 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The game will air live on FOX with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT.
