Long Beach State Has 74 Student-Athletes Named Spring Academic All-Big West

Athletes who carried a GPA over 3.00 and met certain academic and participation minimums were recognized.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced Friday the student-athletes who were named Spring Academic All-Big West. Long Beach State, the Dennis Farrell Commisioner's Cup winners, totaled 74 student-athletes over 10 programs in the spring.
Two women's programs led the way for the Beach. The Big West champions, Women's Track and Field had 16 student-athletes honored in Maggie Bauer, Tessa Chen, Hailey Danskin, Maddie DeBorde, Ryley Fick, Hailey Fune, Clare Gibson, Anitha Graves, LeNaya Griffin, Kyla Meyer, Tiana Prince, Mikayla Ray, Brieanna Tafoya, Malia Talavou, Natalie Tolento and Nyah Chavez.
Just behind them in total honorees was Women's Water Polo, who had 16 honorees in Anne de Kleer, Katie Dill, Orsi Hertzka, Lena Kotanchyan, Gabriella Matafora-Adams, Sierra May, Marilia Mimides, Nadja Novakovic, Jamie Oberman, Aliki Patra, Amanda Price, Pamela Solano, Mariah Walker and Kendall Wilson.
Men's Track and Field had eight selections in Ryan Coy, Nathan Garibay, Alec Jones, Jason Smith, Raymon Ornelas, Anthony Palumbo, Charlie Vernoy and Justin Watterson. That number was matched by Beach Volleyball and Baseball, as Tanner Carlson, Ethan Clough, Jonathon Long, Chase Luttrell, Sebastian Murillo, Jack Noble, Jake Rons and Juaron Watts-Brown represented the Dirtbags and Skyler Germann, Katie Kennedy, Sophie Major, Emily Matoon, Alice Pratesi, Nicci Reinking, Jillian Rodriguez and Sydney Stevens made the team out on the sand.
Cam Cecil, Sophia Fernandez, Shelby Frutoz, Addison Kostrencich, Sinclair Lawhorn and Maddy Ruffin were All-Academic from Softball, while six also represented the Big West Men's Volleyball champions in Mason Briggs, Clarke Godbold, Shane Holdaway, Aidan Knipe, Grant Marocchi and Simon Torwie.
Issac Rodea, Chloe Carraway, Angelina Kim, Hannah Ko and Hunter Pate were honored from the Golf teams while the young Women's Tennis team garnered recognition for Nikola Homolkova, Claire Le Du and Zara Lennon.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes had to be in at least their second year of academic study at their institution, meet certain participation minimums, and carry at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
