Long Beach State in Second Place After the First Round of the Big West Championships

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Long Beach State had a strong first round of the 2022 Big West Men's Golf Championships, going 1-over par on the day as they are currently in second place. The Beach sit six strokes behind UC Davis, who is leading the tournament after 18 holes.

Freshman Ian Gilligan led the Beach in the opening round shooting 2-under par and tied for second place. Gilligan finished the round with five birdies. He sits three strokes out of first place.

Isaac Rodea finishes the first day in the top 10 after shooting an even par of 72.

Two members of the Beach finished round one in the top 25. Steven Deutsch is tied for 11th with 1-over par while Tyler Schafer finished with a 2-over par and is tied for 16th. Following his teammates, Jack Ainscough shot 5-over par on the day.
