Women’s Golf Off To Arizona For Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

The Beach will play in their final pre-championship tournament at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Resort in Maricopa, Ariz.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will be part of a large field at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, taking place on April 4-5 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
Hosted by Wyoming, 22 programs will take part in the tournament which for many serves as the final tournament prior to a conference championship. That is certainly the case for Long Beach State, who will see Hawai'i, UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton join them in Maricopa prior to the upcoming Big West Championship in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
In addition to the hosts and the four Big West programs, the field will feature Boise State, California Baptist, Eastern Washington, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Santa Clara, Seattle, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, and UTEP.
Held on the Par 72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, the tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, April 4 and a final round on Tuesday, April 5. Carts will be allowed for this tournament to increase the pace of play due to the size of the field.
For the Beach, Hannah Ko will look to carry her momentum from a sixth place finish at the Fresno State Classic, and the sophomore will again lead the Long Beach State lineup. Fellow sophomore Angelina Kim will play second, while Hunter Pate returns to the lineup in the third slot. Finally Vanessa Richani and Chloe Carraway will round out the lineup, as Carraway looks to continue her recovery after a solid first round in Fresno. The sophomore was forced to withdraw at that tournament, but continues to see improvement.
