Long Beach State takes Second Place at the El Macero Classic

Tyler Schafer and Ian Gilligan finished tied for 7th overall

EL MACERO, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team finished the El Macero Classic in second place with a 6-under par for the tournament.
The Beach finished just one stroke behind Fresno State for first place. Loyola Marymount finished in third place with a 3-under par.
Senior Tyler Schafer and freshman Ian Gilligan led the Beach with strong round three performances that landed them tied for seventh place overall. The pair both finished 4-under par. Schafer shot 67-70-75 for the tournament, while Gillian finished 71-69-72.
Jack Ainscough finished the round 1-under par and jumped eight spots to finish tied for 25th. He shot a 2-over par for the tournament.
Isaac Rodea and Steven Deutsch, who is competing as an individual, finished the tournament at 4-over par and tied for 37th. Bryce Kvick finished at 13-over par.
Next, the Beach will compete in the Big West Championships starting Sunday, May 1. Beach fans can follow along at Golfstat.com.
