Long Beach State, Tyler Schafer in First Place After Two Rounds at El Macero Classic

Schafer is tied for first place with a 7-under par, while the Beach sits at the top of the leaderboard with an 8-under par

EL MACERO, Calif. –
After two rounds of golf at El Macero Classic, Long Beach State leads the way with an 8-under par showing as the Beach are being led by senior Tyler Schafer who is tied for first place with a 7-under par.

The Beach are one stroke ahead of Fresno State, which is in second place, and four strokes ahead of Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount who are tied for third.

Schafer turned in a solid second round performance as he fired a 70 for 2-under par after sinking four birdies.

Freshman Ian Gilligan moved up 12 spots as he is tied for sixth place with a 4-under par. Gilligan shaved two strokes off of his score from the first round as he fired a 69 in the second round.

Rounding out the Beach in the second round are Jack Ainscough with a 3-over, Isaac Rodea with a 4-over, and Bryce Kvick with an 8-over par showing.

Freshman Steven Deutsch is competing as an individual in the tournament and he is tied with Ainscough for 33rd place with a 3-over par.
