Men’s Golf Closes Out the Regular Season at El Macero Classic

The Beach will play in their final pre-championship tournament at El Macero Country Club April 20-22
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team will close out the regular season at El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis from April 20-22 at El Macero Country Club.
The Beach are one of 14 teams competing in the tournament. In addition to the Aggies and the Beach, also participating in El Macero Classic are UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Sacramento State, Idaho, Cal Poly, Seattle, Santa Clara, and Denver.
At El Macero Classic, Long Beach State will send its roster of Isaac Rodea, Tyler Schafer, Ian Gilligan, Jack Ainscough, and Bryce Kvick to the green. The Beach will also send freshman Steven Deutsch into competition as an individual.
Rodea is coming off of a career performance where he won first place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The sophomore from San Diego, Calif., shot a 13-under par as he fired a 65-69-69 over three rounds. His first round score of 65 tied the LBSU record for best first round.
At the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Long Beach State had two players finish in the Top 10. In addition to Rodea, Schafer placed in a tie for seventh as the senior from Long Beach, Calif., finished with a 10-under par as he shot 68-68-70. The duo led LBSU to a second place team finish, the Beach's highest finish of the season.
Long Beach State looks to build on their solid showing as they hit the green for their final tune up before the Big West Conference Tournament.
