Tyler Schafer Tied for First After Round One at El Macero Classic

Schafer finishes the first round at 5-under par, while Long Beach State is tied for second place

EL MACERO, Calif. –
The Long Beach State Men's Golf team sits tied for second at El Macero Classic after shooting 6-under par in the first round. The Beach are two strokes behind Loyola Marymount for first place and tied with Denver.
 
Senior Tyler Schafer leads the Beach and is tied at the top of the leaderboard after shooting a 67 with six birdies in the opening round.
 
Sophomore Isaac Rodea continues to roll after coming off a first place finish at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. He is tied for 13th after shooting 2-under par.
 
Rounding out the rest of the Beach are Ian Gilligan who finished 1-under par, Jack Ainscough who finished the round with a 74, and Bryce Kvick who shot a 78.
 
Freshman Steven Deutsch at 1-over par as he is competing as an individual.
