Daniel Chian Named Long Beach State Men’s Golf Assistant Coach

Chian, an LBSU alum and Big West All-Conference selection, will join the team for the 2022 season
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State head men's golf coach, Michael Wilson, announced the hiring of Daniel Chian to the staff as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.
"I am excited to welcome Daniel back to the Beach," Wilson said. "Daniel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise through his time here and experience playing as a professional. He is a great competitor and I know he will come in and have an immediate impact."
Chian is a Long Beach State alumni who played at the Beach from 2012-16. He was named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year in 2013 and went on to be named to the 2016 Big West All-Conference First Team.
The Covina, Calif., native left his mark at the Beach as he won three individual tournament championships during his collegiate career, which is tied for the most in wins in program history. In his senior season at LBSU, Chian competed as an individual at the 2016 NCAA Regionals where he shot 71-77-77. He finished his Long Beach State career with a career-stroke average of 73.03 to rank fourth all-time at the Beach. Additionally, Chian concluded his collegiate career with 15 Top 10 finishes to tie for the most in program history.
Following his collegiate career at Long Beach State, Chian went on to play golf at the professional level for several years.
"It is a great privilege to be back at the Beach and helping out the men's golf team," said Chian. "They have been such an instrumental part of my career. I am excited to see how I can help the team accomplish their goals. Coach Wilson has done an incredible job and I can't wait to learn as much as I can from him."
