Long Beach State Drops Contest To No. 4 Hawai'i

Long Beach, Calif. — In the final home game of the season, No. 11 Long Beach State lost to No. 4 Hawai'i 14-5 on Sunday afternoon at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on Senior Day.
After the game, Long Beach State honored Pamela Solano, Marilia Mimides, Lena Kotanchyan, Gabriella Matafora-Adams and Orsi Hertzka.
After a defensive battle in the first six minutes of the game, the Rainbow Wahine (15-5, 6-0) took a 2-0 lead after goals from Morgan McDowall and Elyse Lemay-Lavoie.
Kotanchyan answered back to cut Hawaii's lead to 2-1 after the first period.
In the second period, the Beach (13-13, 2-3) went scoreless as the Rainbow Wahine took a 4-1 lead at halftime.
UH pulled away in the third period outscoring the Beach 6-2 to take a 10-3 lead.
Mimides scored a team-high two goals, while Chelsea Oliver has 10 saves in the cage.
The Beach will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when LBSU heads to Cal State Northridge.
