Long Beach State Tied for First After a Strong Showing in Round One at the Desert Intercollegiate

Tyler Schafer is tied for fourth place after shooting 3-under par

PALM DESERT, Calif. - After the first day of competition in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Long Beach State shares the top spot on the leaderboard after shooting 3-under par. The Beach finished with a 285 and is tied with Charlotte.
Leading the Beach is senior Tyler Schafer who shot 3-under par in the opening round. He is tied for fourth place after five birdies on the back nine holes.
Senior Jack Ainscough sits at 2-under par and is tied for eighth place. Ainscough is followed by Steven Deutsch (72), Ian Gilligan (74), and Bryce Kvick (78).
The Beach led five other Big West schools. They hold a six-stroke lead over their closest conference competitor.
Long Beach State will continue play in the second round on Thursday, March 5 in Palm Desert. Beach fans can follow along via GolfStat.com.
