Long Beach State Gives Tough Battle But Falls To UIndy 4-3

In a close match against the Greyhounds, Long Beach State continues falls to Indy on Satuday.
LONG BEACH, CALIF. – Long Beach State needed one final set, but were unable to finish off the win over Uindy at home on Saturday, falling 4-3 against Uindy.
"It was a tough loss against a feisty Indy team," stated head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "We're proud of our fight today."
Long Beach State (7-6, 3-0 Big West) fell behind after dropping the doubles point. Uindy (9-2) picked up their first win as Maissane Aik and Maria Solnyshkina defeated Sheena Masuda and Zuzanna Szczepanska, 6-3. Isabella Dunlap and Sofia Sharonova then secured the point with a 6-4 win over Claire Le Du and Arina Babkova.
In the beginning of singles play, the Greyhounds extended their lead, capturing the first point. Arina Amaning won at No. 5, downing Arina Babkova 6-3, 6-2 and Anna Novikova added another point for UIndy with her win against Sheena Masuda 6-4, 6-3.
The young Beach team didn't go down without a fight. Zuzanna Szczepanska put the Beach on the board with her victory at No. 6 against Maria Solnyshkina 6-2, 6-4.
Long Beach State continued their winning streak with Nikola Homolkova claiming another point versus Isabella Dunlap 6-3, 6-2 in the top flight, and Claire Le Du persevered and claimed another point for Long Beach State, evening the score 3-3 with a three-set victory.
Also forcing a third set, Freshman Peppi Ramstedt left everything on the court but ultimately came up short against Kristina Lagoda 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
The Beach returns to action at home against Dartmouth on March 24 at 2 p.m.
