Women’s Tennis Sweeps Idaho In First Of Two Matches This Week

Long Beach State took down the Vandals 4-0 on Thursday at Rhodes Tennis Center.
LONG BEACH, CALIF. – Long Beach State commanded play on Thursday in the first of two matches this week, cruising to a 4-0 win over Idaho at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
Long Beach State (7-5) once again got the day off to a strong start with a win in doubles. Arina Babkova and Claire Le Du raced to a 6-2 win in the third flight, and the top flight sealed the point as Zara Lennon and Sheena Masuda were 6-4 winners over Ines Oliveira and KeSyuan Jhang of Idaho (4-6).
The Beach finished off a quick day by winning three singles in straight sets, as the teams had elected not to finish matches once the dual was clinched. Babkova continued off of her strong singles performance to pick up the team's second points, winning 6-2, 6-0, while Peppi Ramstedt also didn't drop a game in her second set, a 6-3, 6-0 win over Javanne Palma. Zara Lennon then sealed the win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the second flight over Jhang.
Long Beach State returns to Rhodes Tennis Center for their next match on Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. where they will compete against UIndy. Live scoring of the match will be available on www.beachlivestats.com.
