No. 14 LBSU Returns to Action with Duals against Pepperdine, Southern Miss

After a week off, the Beach returns to the courts with a tri-dual in Malibu, Calif.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State returns to action after a week off as they head to Malibu, Calif. for a tri-dual against No. 18 Pepperdine and Southern Miss on Thursday afternoon.
The Beach will take on the Waves at 12:00 p.m. and close out the day against the Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Live stats will be available at beachlivestats.com

ABOUT THE BEACH
- Long Beach State remains at No. 14 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
- The Beach are off to a 1-7 start to their 2022 campaign coming off an idle week.
- Their last duals came on March 5 and 6 when they faced four top 11 teams, falling 0-4 at the Battle for LA.
- The duos of Skyler Germann/Alice Pratesi and Emily Mattoon/Jillian Rodriguez lead the way for the Beach with each posting 3-3 records so far this season. Last time out, Germann and Pratesi were in flight one while Mattoon and Rodriguez were in flight four.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- Long Beach State continues their string of facing top 20 teams with No. 18 Pepperdine in the first of their two duals. They will play back-to-back matches with the second against Southern Miss.
- The Waves enter the week 7-2 on the season with both losses coming this past weekend at the Gamecock Grand Slam in South Carolina. Their two wins came against ULM and Mercer while they fell 4-1 to both South Carolina and LSU.
- Pepperdine leads the all-time series against the Beach, 23-3, and have won the last two meetings. Long Beach State's last win over the Waves came on March 7, 2020.
- Southern Miss is 3-10 on the year coming off a 2-2 week at the Tulane Invitational. Their three wins this season have come against Texas A&M – Kingsville, Houston Baptist, and Nicholls College.
- This will be the first time the Beach and Golden Eagles in program history.
